European Week of Regions and Cities

Making Textile Collection Work Locally: The Role of Municipalities in Europe’s Circular Transition

This workshop looks at how cities and towns are putting in place separate collection of used clothes, now required across the EU. Local leaders and experts from different regions and cities will share how they organise services, engage citizens and businesses, and address costs and constraints. The Catalan Circular Fashion Pact experience as well as the textile hub in the City of Prato (Tuscany, Italy) will also be presented. It will also examine what are the challenges faced and what support is needed, connecting EU goals with local action. The discussion will highlight regulatory gaps, funding needs and scalable solutions for municipalities.
