- Luís Filipe de Araújo, born on November 17, 1974, is the Mayor of Gondomar.
He holds a Degree in Law and a Master’s in Law, specializing in Corporate Law, from the
Universidade Lusófona do Porto. He also completed the taught component of a Master’s in
Political-Legal Sciences and holds a post-graduate degree in Administrative Law from the
Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Porto.
His professional career began as a practicing lawyer in the Porto district (2001–2013) and as an
Assistant Professor at the Universidade Lusófona do Porto between 2004 and 2013.
In 2013, he entered public administration as the Vice-Mayor of Gondomar, a position he held
until January 2025. He became the Mayor of Gondomar on February 1, 2025, and following the
local elections of October 12, 2025, he took office for the 2025–2029 mandate.
At the regional and national levels, he serves as Chairman of the Board of the General
Meeting of Metro do Porto (2025–2027 term) and, since December 2025, as a member of the
Board of Directors of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP).
Luís Filipe Araújo is married, has two children, and has been a lifelong resident in the
municipality of Gondomar.
