- Meritxell Budó i Pla is the President of the Catalan Association of Municipalities (ACM) and Mayor of La Garriga. She has been actively involved in municipal politics since 2003. She served as a municipal councillor and held the office of Mayor of La Garriga from 2007 to 2008, from 2011 to 2019, and again since May 2023.
In March 2019, she was appointed Minister of the Presidency and Government Spokesperson of the Government of Catalonia, a position she held until May 2021. She also served as a Member of the Parliament of Catalonia in 2021.
Within the Government of Catalonia, she previously served as Secretary for Health Care and Participation in the Ministry of Health. She also held the positions of Vice-President of the Barcelona Provincial Council (2015–2019) and President of the Catalan Fund for Development Cooperation (2011–2019), promoting inter-municipal cooperation and international development initiatives.
In September 2023, she was elected President of the Catalan Association of Municipalities (ACM), the leading representative organisation of local governments in Catalonia, bringing together all municipalities, county councils and provincial councils.
She holds a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Barcelona and a Master's degree in the Pharmaceutical and Parapharmaceutical Industry. Before dedicating herself fully to public service, she developed her professional career in the veterinary pharmaceutical sector, where she held management and executive positions.
