Europe is an ageing society that will have far-reaching implications for economies, labour markets and social cohesion. Despite that, ageism remains a largely underestimated challenge. It contributes to labour market exclusion, hampers economic growth and competitiveness, leads to a loss of valuable talent, increases social costs and exacerbates inequalities. This session will exchange best practices that demonstrate that tackling ageism (stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination) is not only a social imperative, but also a strategic opportunity to promote a meaningful ageing, boost competitiveness, foster innovation, develop intergenerational fairness and strengthen territorial balance.
