European Week of Regions and Cities

The right to stay: keeping our mountains alive, dynamic, accessible and inhabited

Following the launch of the European Mountain Pact, which calls for the specific needs of mountain regions to be integrated into all European policies and programmes, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region wants to organise an interactive policy debate on the right to stay in mountain areas. Ensuring the vitality of these territories requires targeted measures to support the local economy and quality of life, especially for young people who wish to stay or settle there. The debate will bring together regions and cities with different mountain areas to highlight regional and cross-border initiatives demonstrating the importance of sustained EU financial support for mountain development.
