Official Opening

The Opening Session will kick off and set the scene for this year's #EURegionsWeek, titled "Strong Regions, Strong Europe". The political debate, bringing together high-level speakers and representatives from across the Union, will focus on the state of EU regions and cities, and on EU's cohesion policy. At a crucial moment for shaping Europe's future and as the co-legislators negotiate the budgetary framework for the period 2028-2034, speakers will discuss how regions and cities contribute to addressing some major challenges for Europe, such as demographic change, industrial transition, climate resilience and geopolitical instability. They will also debate how EU investments can help strengthen Europe's competitiveness, security and strategic autonomy, while safeguarding economic, social and territorial cohesion.
