Marie-Antoinette Maupertuis

  • President of the Assembly of Corsica
  • Marie-Antoinette Maupertuis is President of the Assembly of Corsica and President of the European Alliance Group at the European Committee of the Regions. As President of Corsica, a Mediterranean island at the heart of Europe, she brings a strong territorial perspective to European policymaking, with a particular focus on cohesion, territorial development and the specific challenges faced by island territories. At the European Committee of the Regions, she is actively involved in the debate on the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028–2034, she was rapporteur for the European Committee of the Regions’ opinion on “EU budget and place-based policies: proposals for new design and delivery mechanisms in the MFF post-2027”, adopted in November 2024, advocating for a strong place-based approach, effective territorial governance and the preservation of a strong regional dimension in EU funding. She also works to ensure that insularity is better recognised and considered in EU policies and funding mechanisms, in line with the principle of territorial cohesion enshrined in the Treaties. Her European engagement also includes Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, notably through her membership of the Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly (ARLEM), where she is as co-rapporteur for the opinion on the Action Plan for the Pact for the Mediterranean.
