Vita Brakovska, PhD is a practitioner, lecturer and innovation facilitator specialising in behavioural change, social innovation and participatory methods for accelerating the green transition.
Her doctoral thesis at Riga Technical University, Methods for the Development of a Climate-Responsible Future Society, focused on designing and validating practical methods that help municipalities, public organisations and communities translate sustainability goals into everyday action. Her research combines systems thinking, design thinking, co-production, system dynamics and behavioural approaches to develop affordable, scalable interventions that strengthen climate-responsible behaviour across diverse target groups.
Alongside her academic work, Vita has more than 20 years of experience working with municipalities, planning regions, ministries, universities and NGOs across Latvia and the Baltic Sea Region. She has designed and facilitated over 2,000 workshops, trainings, hackathons and participatory events on innovation, sustainability, energy transition and organisational change, helping public institutions engage citizens and employees in implementing practical sustainability solutions.
Her current work focuses on developing cost-effective, high-impact behavioural interventions that complement technological investments in public buildings and communities. By combining scientific research with practical facilitation, she supports municipalities in creating energy-efficient, resilient and citizen-centred public services that contribute to the European Green Deal and long-term climate neutrality goals.
