European Week of Regions and Cities

Wildfires in the Mediterranean Regions. Lessons from an Interreg Partnership

The growing threat of wildfires requires stronger regional policies and closer cooperation at the European level. This workshop is proposed by the RES2FIRE Interreg project partnership in the Adriatic–Ionian region. Local administrations, development agencies and University and research centres are working on innovations for wildfire prevention and greater resilience to the increasing wildfire risk. The workshop will highlight the added value of European territorial cooperation. Real-world cases will showcase new technologies for assessing wildfire risk, education strategies to promote community awareness, in the framework of the EU strategy to tackle rising wildfire threat (2025)
