- Mr. Beauchesne holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Forestry Sciences from Université Laval (Quebec). In 1992, he began his career as an Ecological Knowledge Project Officer at Quebec’s Ministry of the Environment. Appointed as a manager in 2005, he worked notably on biodiversity protection initiatives. In 2014, he was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister for Sustainable Development and Environmental Quality, where he notably led the government’s 2015-2020 Sustainable Development Strategy. In 2017, he was appointed Deputy Minister of the Environment and the Fight Against Climate Change. In early 2019, he was appointed Associate Secretary General at the Ministère du Conseil exécutif and Secretary of the Ministerial Committee on the Economy and the Environment. In November 2019, Mr. Beauchesne was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Société du Plan Nord. He serves on several boards of directors and represents the Government of Quebec on the Advisory Committee of the Arctic Circle Assembly in Iceland.
