  • Hákun Djurhuus has been the CEO of the Faroese electric utility company SEV since 2008. Before taking on his current position at SEV, he was the Managing Director of Shell in the Faroe Islands. Hákun holds an MSc in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. SEV has received the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize for its ambitious targets and the creative nature of its efforts to reduce dependency on fossil fuels to reach its target of a 100% renewable energy supply onshore by 2030. The Faroe Islands are a small but highly advanced country isolated in the North Atlantic. The green transition in the Faroe Islands will demonstrate how quickly and effectively converting to a sustainable energy sector works and can serve as a demonstration case and a testbed for larger communities.
