European Week of Regions and Cities

Stronger Together: Place-Based Innovation as a Tool for Territorial Cohesion

How can regions turn the digital and climate transitions into durable competitiveness and stronger social cohesion? This workshop convenes partners from six EU countries to showcase how Cohesion Policy can accelerate place-based innovation, smart infrastructure and future-ready skills. Through cases in advanced materials, tech transfer, high-performance public buildings, energy systems, bio-based industries and talent ecosystems, it explores how regions can upgrade their economies and quality of life. The discussion focuses on converting local assets and research strength into inclusive, resilient growth that creates jobs, attracts talent and narrows territorial gaps, especially in rural areas.
