- Dr. Philipp Bauer is the co-founder and CEO of Starflight Dynamics, a Munich-based deep-tech startup developing high-mobility, long-endurance in-space platforms for next-generation orbital operations. In addition to its propulsion-led platform work, the company also pioneers technologies for in-space material production.
Dr. Bauer brings over 15 years of experience in the aerospace and defence sectors. He previously served as Vice President at Destinus and Reflex Aerospace, and held senior leadership roles at ArianeGroup and Airbus. His expertise spans chemical and electric propulsion, orbital systems, advanced vehicle architectures, industrial engineering, and startup scaling.
He has successfully incepted and led transnational industrial partnerships, and built high-performance technical teams across multiple European countries. He holds a PhD in Combustion Science & Explosion Dynamics and an Executive MBA in Innovation Management.
Throughout his career, he has scaled ventures from inception to multi-million-euro funding, led the delivery of flight hardware for mega-constellations and hypersonic platforms, and navigated the transition from R&D to commercialization. His current focus is on enabling sovereign, modular infrastructure for space-based mobility, servicing, and logistics—bringing defence-grade capability to the NewSpace era.
