Simona Iammarino

  • Professor Simona Iammarino is Professor of Applied Economics at the Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) in L'Aquila and Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics, where she was previously Professor of Economic Geography and Head of Department. Her research focuses on the economic geography of innovation, regional development and policy, and the role of multinationals in local economic development. She has advised the European Commission, OECD, and United Nations, and in 2024 was awarded the ERSA European Prize in Regional Science, the field's most prestigious honour.
