‘Energy efficiency first’ principle in practice: applications on local energy strategies

The application of the ‘energy efficiency first’ principle was reinforced by Directive (EU) 2023/1791, which requires its application to planning and energy policy. ENEA supports the development and implementation of energy strategies at national and local level, and acts as the Italian coordinator of the Covenant of Mayors. ENEA will explain the innovative tools implemented and tested within the EU’s SEED MICAT and ENEFIRST+ projects and present its pilot cases focused on Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans. Participants will have the opportunity to integrate the principle into their energy strategies and assess the multiple benefits.
