- Themis Christophidou is Director-General of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) at the European Commission since 2023. A civil engineer by training, she has over two decades of experience within the Commission, holding senior roles across different policy areas, including as Director-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture. Her career spans regional policy, cabinet leadership positions, and infrastructure development, bringing a strong understanding of cohesion policy and territorial development. In her current role, she oversees EU investment policy supporting regions and cities, with a focus on economic, social, and territorial cohesion across the Union.
