Public transport is often taken for granted, until it stops working. This workshop explores how EU strength depends on resilient regions and cities, and the public transport systems that keep them moving. Taking place in the year of the first World Public Transport Day, it focuses on social inclusion and territorial cohesion. Participants examine what happens when metro, bus and tram services are suspended for 24 hours in a European city. They take on roles such as local authorities, employers, healthcare providers, commuters and transport operators to assess the impact on daily life and regional functioning. The simulation is supported by real European case studies from UITP members.
