European Week of Regions and Cities

Next gen leadership: Opportunities and struggles in electoral politics

This session brings together MEPs, national MPs and YEPs from the CoR to explore youth leadership in a digital political landscape. It addresses challenges such as online harassment, disinformation, algorithmic bias and structural barriers like funding gaps, party gatekeeping and generational bias. It also highlights digital opportunities for engagement, campaigning and grassroot mobilisation. The session aims to identify concrete actions to better support young political leadership across all levels of governance and beyond party lines, and to ensure that the next generation is not only represented, but empowered to actively shape the future of EU democracy.
