Enhancing the contribution of cohesion policy to competitiveness: a private sector perspective

Cohesion policy is being reassessed in light of the EU’s focus on competitiveness and the need for tangible results. An under-discussed aspect is the role of the private sector, both in project design and as a beneficiary of Cohesion funding. Some studies suggest that greater private sector involvement can improve policy delivery. BusinessEurope, the leading private sector organisation in Europe, is a key counterpart in this debate and, in partnership with CEPS, a Brussels-based think tank, brings strong analytical rigour. In addition to the registered speakers, we would like to invite an MEP, a policymaker (DG REGIO or the Council of the EU), and a CEO from the private sector.
