Helping workers in the times of economic turbulence: Extending the scope of the EGF

The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund for Displaced Workers (EGF) is an expression of EU solidarity for workers who have lost their job as a result of major restructuring events. It finances targeted training and other support measures for their reintegration into the labour market. The scope of the EGF has now been extended to also support workers threatened by imminent job displacement. This new type of assistance will be implemented and co-financed by the enterprise undergoing restructuring. The speaker will present the main elements of the amended EGF regulation. The audience will learn how companies undergoing restructuring can request EU funding to help surplus employees adjust.
