This session explores how participatory democracy can strengthen local and regional governance by placing young people at the centre of decision-making. It highlights how meaningful youth engagement can improve policies, build trust in institutions, foster active citizenship and support more inclusive governance. Drawing on the European Capital of Democracy initiative and projects funded under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) programme, the session will showcase practical approaches to youth participation in public life. Participants will gain insights into innovative participation models, successful EU-funded initiatives and funding opportunities available through CERV
