Right to Stay: Turning Geographical Handicaps into Territorial Assets for Local Development

Europe’s territorial diversity is one of its greatest strengths, yet many mountain, rural, island and remote regions continue to face demographic decline, limited connectivity and reduced access to services and opportunities. This high-level discussion will explore how place-based policies can turn geographical constraints into drivers of sustainable development. Bringing together local and regional leaders from across Europe, it will showcase solutions to strengthen communities, retain talent and improve quality of life. It will also examine how future EU policies and funding can better support the Right to Stay, ensuring that citizens can build their future in the places they call home.
