Who Speaks for Regions? Multilevel Governance and Europe’s Next Long-Term Budget

As Europe prepares its next long-term budget, strong regions need a clear voice in decision-making if European funding is to respond to real territorial needs. This EURegions Talk will explore multilevel governance through the cooperation axis between the Porto Metropolitan Area and Galicia, asking how European, national, regional and local levels can work better together, while ensuring that metropolitan and regional actors remain contributors to policy design and delivery. At a time when new models may risk centralisation or overlapping responsibilities, this session will argue that stronger coordination must go hand in hand with stronger regional voices in Europe’s funding decisions.
