37% of the EU’s population lives near a border, where different legal and administrative systems can create daily obstacles. Yet borders are also places of opportunity. Cross-border cooperation offers a powerful toolbox to turn barriers into solutions in many fields. Interreg is the best-known EU-funded instrument for this, but other tools go beyond funding, including the BRIDGEforEU Regulation, European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation, the Border Focal Point, and b-solutions. This session brings them to life through stories from energy communities, climate resilience and labour markets, offering inspiration for policymakers and anyone interested in overcoming cross-border obstacles.
