Resilient Regions, resilient Europe: Delivering solutions in times of crisis

Europe's regions are on the frontline. Climate disasters, geopolitical shocks, migration pressures and health crises do not wait for policy cycles, and their impact falls hardest on territories least equipped to cope. Introduced by Antonella Sberna, Vice-President of the European Parliament, and moderated by Professor John Bachtler, “Resilient Regions, resilient Europe: Delivering solutions in times of crisis” brings together regional leaders for an evidence-driven debate on what it takes to build resilience from the ground up, and what needs to change at EU level. Through real-life case studies, speakers will share how their regions responded to crises, what worked, what did not, and which tools they needed but lacked. The discussion will feed directly into the debate on the next Multiannual Financial Framework, connecting regional experience with EU-level decision-making. Expect an open Q&A, concrete policy recommendations and practical peer exchange between practitioners and policymakers. Join us on 15 October 2026, 11:30-13:00, Committee of the Regions, Brussels. Whether you work in regional development, crisis management or EU policy, this session will offer sharper thinking, practical insights and useful connections. Come ready to challenge assumptions, compare approaches and help shape a more resilient Europe today.
