European Week of Regions and Cities

Driving competitive, resilient and sustainable tourism in Europe: the Four Motors for Europe’s perspective

Tourism is a key driver of competitiveness and cohesion within the European Union. Representing around 10% of their GDP, it stands as a major sector of the economy of the regions of the Four Motors for Europe (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Baden-Württemberg, Catalonia and Lombardy). At the crossroads of economic, environmental, and social challenges, tourism plays a crucial role in enhancing the dynamism and attractiveness of their territories. As the European Commission prepares to unveil its first strategy on sustainable tourism, this event will showcase regional strategies and inspiring, innovative practices of the Four Motors for Europe for resilient, competitive and sustainable tourism.
