Fauzaya Talhaoui is a jurist, academic, and prominent political leader in Belgium, specializing in human rights, justice, migration, and gender-sensitive public policy. She holds a Master’s degree in Law from the University of Antwerp (magna cum laude) and began her career as an academic assistant and researcher in international law and fundamental rights. From 1999 to 2014, she served as a Member of the Belgian Federal Parliament and the Senate, where she held senior responsibilities in the areas of justice, asylum and migration, development cooperation, and economic affairs. Since 2014, she has been an elected representative in the City of Antwerp, the District of Antwerp, and the Provincial Council of Antwerp, where she has been twice in the Provincial Council of Antwerp and only this actual mandate (2024-2030) as President of the Provincial Council of Antwerp. She is co-founder of the Institute for Moroccan and Mediterranean Studies (IMaMS) and a frequent speaker at international forums. Her work bridges Europe and the Mediterranean, with a focus on sustainable development, academic cooperation, and the protection of fundamental rights.
