Anna Athanasopoulou

  • Anna Athanasopoulou works at the European Commission as Director for Simplification and Networks in the areas of industry and EU single market. Cluster policy falls within her responsibilities. Managerial experience and policy expertise at political and operational level in Geneva and Brussels, in the areas of culture and creative industries, the social economy, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, tourism, textiles and fashion, and external relations (human rights, humanitarian affairs). Prior to joining the EU civil service in 2002, worked as Adviser to two Ministers of Culture in Greece and as Director of Programme Planning for the Athens 2004 Cultural Olympiad and lectured on History of Art and Cultural Management. Anna studied Archaeology at the University of Thessaloniki and continued in USA and the UK to specialize in History of Art, where she holds a Master of Arts (George Washington University) and a Ph.D. (Courtauld Institute of Art).
