European Week of Regions and Cities

Régiók és Városok Európai Hete 2026 - Strong regions, strong Europe.

The programme of the European Week of Regions and Cities 2026 in Kecskemét is built around the idea that strong regions and strong cities are essential for a strong Europe. The programme will take place in the main hall of the Katona József Library and will consist primarily of three roundtable discussions. Each discussion will focus on a major issue that has a direct impact on the future of European cities and regions: Europe's economic strength and ability to compete internationally, the growing role of artificial intelligence, and sustainable development and environmental protection. The first roundtable discussion will focus on Europe's ability to remain economically successful and competitive in a rapidly changing global environment. The second roundtable will examine the rapid development of artificial intelligence and its possible effects on cities, universities, companies and citizens. The third roundtable will focus on one of the most important long-term challenges for European cities: how to create healthy, attractive and liveable communities while responding to climate change and protecting the natural environment. The overall aim of the programme is to create an open and informative space where different viewpoints can meet.
