European Week of Regions and Cities

Día da Eurorexión Galicia-Norte de Portugal / Dia da Euroregião Galicia-Norte de Portugal

The EGTC Galicia–Norte Portugal is organizing the “Día da Eurorrexión Galicia–Norte Portugal”, an annual celebration of cross-border cooperation between Galicia and Norte Portugal. This year is especially significant, as we celebrate 35 years since the creation of the Galicia-Norte Portugal Working Community and 40 years since Spain and Portugal joined the European Communities. These milestones provide an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in strengthening our shared territory, while also looking towards the future. The Euroregion Day is a pioneering initiative promoted by Galicia and Norte Portugal to further strengthen our ties and highlight the importance of cross-border cooperation in building a stronger Europe. The event will open with a dialogue on the importance of cross-border cooperation, bringing together speakers from the municipal, regional and European levels, as well as citizens and stakeholders from both sides of the border. The day will also look to the future, with a particular focus on young people as key actors in shaping the Euroregion. This will be followed by the NORTEAR Galicia–Norte Portugal Euroregion Festival, which, through music and culture, will showcase emerging young talent from Galicia and Norte Portugal while strengthening the cultural ties that connect both sides of the border.
