Fossil-free and resilient cities: The untapped potential of transregional cooperation on local heat planning

The workshop takes the form of an online cross-border dialogue and explores how transregional cooperation can accelerate the shift to fossil-free, resilient urban heating, combining expert input with active participant exchange. One focus will be the Interreg project PlanHeat as practical example on how transregional cooperation helps cities move from policy obligation to implementation. After a short framing by the moderator, experts provide input, e.g. on EU policy and municipal practice. This is followed by interactive elements, such as live polling and small-group exchange. Outcome is a shared understanding that local heat planning is not only a legal requirement, but also a strategic opportunity for cities to strengthen their overall resilience.
