European Week of Regions and Cities

Reducing regulatory burden for investment and growth in regions and cities

This workshop will explore how reducing administrative and regulatory burdens for firms can foster growth in all types of regions, and support broader regional development. It will focus on the role of subnational governments in designing and implementing regulation that achieves policy objectives while minimising compliance costs for businesses, on the one hand, and their role in easing compliance and administration costs on the other. The panelists will present empirical evidence and showcase policy examples before open discussion with the audience on how European regions can move towards a more business-friendly, productive and competitive regulatory environment.
